Graduation
Secret Admirer
I probably won’t admit it in person, but I think you’re pretty great.
Full Steam
All the years have not lessened the feeling of excitement in me when you give me that look. The one that says Fire it up, we’re going in.
Teach Love
The best teachers
are the ones
who show you
how to use
your heart.
Walking Together
I am proud to see
the one you are,
and the one
you are becoming.
It is no small thing,
this chance I have
been given
to walk the road
beside you.
Welcome Party
If you find yourself wondering when it will be your time,
congratulations, your time has come.
Easy Mind
Don’t trip
about whether you
have things figured out yet.
It takes the time it takes
to find your flow.
Heart Lines
There are invisible lines
connecting everything together,
and I am particularly fond of
the one that connects me to you.
No Rule
Pick a date and do the thing. There is no rule that says you have to feel ready before you say yes to your dreams.

Stress Management
I can imagine it working out perfectly, I said. I can’t, she said & I said no wonder you’re so stressed.
Solid Effort
It’s taken me a long time to get here, he said, so I don’t really care if it’s wrong.
Some Kind of Ride

Small World
We sat in the car & the night dropped down until the only sounds were the crickets & the dance of our voices & for a moment the world became small enough to roll back & forth between us.
Side by Side
We sat side by side in the morning light & looked out at the future together.
Silly in Public

Realist
I don’t wear stuff to impress people, she said. I can’t afford it yet.
Real Name
I can remember walking down the street, saying my name over & over, until all of a sudden, it didn’t sound like my name anymore. It didn’t even sound like a word at all & then I stopped & the silence rushed in & whispered words that sounded more like my real name & I smiled & thought to myself how surprised my parents would be when they found out what a mistake they had made.
